Domestic Substitution of Industrial Instruments Accelerates

For a long period the mid-to-high-end industrial process instrument market was dominated by foreign brands, with users equating "imported" with "reliable". That pattern is changing.

Three drivers of change

First, supply-chain security. After experiencing delivery disruption, users in several industries began actively developing local suppliers and requiring viable alternatives for critical instruments. Second, the technology gap has narrowed — for mainstream categories such as radar level, electromagnetic flow and pressure transmission, domestic products now meet the requirements of the vast majority of applications. Third, service responsiveness: local suppliers react markedly faster on commissioning, spare parts and customised designs.

Gaps that remain

Objectively, in extreme conditions (very high temperature and pressure, aggressive corrosion, high-accuracy custody transfer) and in the accumulation of long-term stability data, domestic instruments still trail first-tier international brands. For critical loops, users should ask suppliers for third-party test reports and application cases under comparable conditions rather than judging from catalogue specifications alone.

Selection advice

For routine process monitoring loops, domestic instruments already offer clear advantages in cost-performance and responsiveness. For safety interlocks and custody transfer, prefer products with complete calibration records and traceability, and allow for redundancy in the design.
